MATCH PREVIEW

It is the grand finale in the Big Bash League 2024-25. We have had three weeks of exciting cricket, and after 43 competitive games, the stage is all set to crown the new champions. The Hobart Hurricanes will be up against the Sydney Thunder in this game as both teams look to emerge out of their wilderness. The Hobart Hurricanes have been the top team this season and defeated the Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier to earn their place in the final. The side hasn't won the title before and has been runner-up twice. They will look to end this long wait with a good show. They have a good record against Sydney Thunder and shall start this game with higher odds. The Sydney Thunder knocked out the Sydney Sixers in the Challenger and shall aim for their second title after winning one in 2015-16. Neither team would go down without a fight, and we expect a nail-biting finish.

Hobart Hurricanes Preview

Nathan Ellis' team has punched above its weight this season. They weren't one of the favourites on cricket betting sites when the season started, but the side has delivered strong performances. They finished on the top of the points table and knocked out the Sydney Sixers by 12 runs in the Qualifier. They have defeated the Thunder in the last three games and have won all six at this venue this season. Ellis would expect a strong show from his players in this game and end the 14-year drought for a title.

Mitchell Owen has made 344 runs this season and shall look to deliver a strong start in this game with Caleb Jewell, who has also been in good form. Matthew Wade, the most experienced batter on the side, looks to do well in the middle, along with Ben McDermott and Tim David. The side packs firepower in the lower middle order and shall expect quick runs from Nikhil Chaudhary and Chris Jordan.

Riley Meredith has been the best bowler for the Hurricanes this season, and he will look to make early inroads into the Sydney Thunder's batting lineup with Cameron Gannon, whose match-winning spell in the last game helped the side. Peter Hatzoglou and Ellis must apply brakes on the scoring as their opponents have good hitters. Chris Jordan and Chaudhary make it a strong bowling attack.

Expected Starting XI for Hobart Hurricanes

Nathan Ellis (c), Caleb Jewell, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Wade (wk), Ben McDermott, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Chris Jordan, Cameron Gannon, Peter Hatzoglou, Riley Meredith

Sydney Thunder Preview

David Warner and his team have surprised the pundits with good performances this season. They had seen a slump in form midseason, which saw their odds drop on cricket-betting apps, but they have bounced back with good performances in the playoffs. It was a clinical performance from the team in the Challenger as they defeated the Sydney Sixers by 4 wickets. The Hurricanes pose a big challenge, and Warner expects his team to fire all cylinders in this game.

David Warner is the leading run-getter this season with 357 runs and must lead from the front and deliver a strong start with Jason Sangha. Sam Billings played a good knock in the last game, and he must build partnerships with Matthew Gilkes and Hugh Weibgen in the middle order. They have good hitters in the lower middle order and expect runs from Chris Green, George Garton and Nathan McAndrew.

The bowling attack will face the heat in this game. Nathan McAndrew and Wes Agar must get early breakthroughs to put the side in a strong position. Tanveer Sangha must use conditions that will suit his bowling style. He must do well in the middle overs with Chris Green. Tom Andrews and George Garton must do well, as the Hurricanes will go after them.

Expected Starting XI for Sydney Thunder

David Warner (c), Hugh Weibgen, Matthew Gilkes, Sam Billings (wk), George Garton, Jason Sangha, Chris Green, Nathan McAndrew, Tom Andrews, Wes Agar, Tanveer Sangha

TOSS: To Bowl First

The team chasing the score has won four times in the last six games at this venue. Hobart has short boundaries around the square, making it difficult to defend totals. It is a high-stakes battle, and both teams prefer to use the early assistance on the surface by first bowling on winning the toss.

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

The weather conditions shall be good over Hobart. We expect odd clouds over the sky during the game. The batting conditions will be good, and the ball will come onto the bat nicely. There will be little margin of error for the bowlers. The side batting first would like to have 170 runs on the board in this game.

OUR PREDICTION

We expect a high-pressure contest as both teams have much to prove by winning the title this season. The Sydney Thunder have done well in the last few games, but their poor record against the Hurricanes will be on their mind. The Hurricanes have won all six games at Hobart, and this will boost their confidence. They have a strong bowling attack, and according to our cricket betting tips, they are favorites to win the title.

Our Prediction is for Hobart Hurricanes  to win
